What If of the Hour

RFID chips are supposed to be harmless because they're passive devices. They have no power cells so they must be stimulated externally to give up their secrets. So here comes some new technology from Sandia Labs aimed at creating "bio batteries" that can be implanted in a person. They're small enough that their first application could be used to power artificial retinas.

Well, if they're that small, what's to stop them from being planted under the skin along with an RFID chip to change the little beastie into a broadcasting device? What then?

Then Big Brother will be able to monitor any one, any where, at any time. They may even implant them in babies and keep it a secret from the rest of us.
