Yeah, that's a homebrewed vintage arcade box. Yeah, the thing jutting out of the side is an iPod Nano. What's it doing in there? Why, running Pac Man, of course.

I sat down the other day and marveled at the inherent ridiculousness of two classic games DIYers brought to the world's best-selling portable music player. First Doom and now Pac Man. Proper controls? Bah! Hell, Doom even runs in monochrome on pre-color-screen iPods. Go iPodLinux! In Pac Man's case (er, Ms. Pac man, sorry), this guy actually created a miniature arcade housing for his iPod Nano. Since the shape of the screen results in the game being played sideways, we arrive at this somewhat unsightly but nonetheless amusing contraption.

Kudos, man.

Some other noteworthy Apple news (and no, this is not an Apple fanboy blog) that did pop up today: is a winner of the Windows XP on Mac Contest set to emerge soon? ArsTechnica, CNET and Engadget (among others) got everyone hot and bothered today, and Nederkoorn (the contest's creator) saw his site go down for a bit (unrelated), all adding to the fracas. Looks like he's expecting a version of the solution in by the end of the week, according to his site.
