ViiV: Intel Stuck on Stupid

From The INQuirer:
INTEL LOOKS TO be trying to inject a little pep into the flagging Viiv concept. For some reason, not just DRM infections, no one seems to care about it, so it is time to throw some of that $300 million ad campaign at the subliterate monkeys known as celebrities. It seems that Intel is going to throw $125K or so around to get the 'beautiful people' free Viiv branded Shuttle boxes.
Not that I'd ever disagree with anything Intel does (just ask WRM, he'll tell you that), but are these guys stupid or something? (Intel, that is, not the celebrities. Then again, either might make the answer too easy.)

Let's go back in history just a bit, to 1953, the birth of the Corvette. I was just a wee lad of 2 at the time, but, even then, I was pining for something that could go faster and hug corners better than my plain old stroller. I would have soiled my diapers for a sports model! (Come to think of it...) Well, GM decided to give almost all of the first run of Corvettes to celebrities of one ilk or another. Even the Duke got one, although he couldn't fit in it.

Common people? The ones who had to plunk down the cash to buy one? Hey! Why bother. GM thought it could instill class envy and drive up Corvette sales. It didn't. In fact, by 1959, the Corvette was slated to be scrapped. But that's another story.

You, Intel... You got to put ViiV in the hands of the people and stop all this silliness. As opposed to me when I was two, Celebs really couldn't give a crap. And, just to let you in on a little secret --we all know they're just saying what they're compensated to say. There isn't a word of truth in it and, even if there was, they wouldn't understand it.
