Bluetooth + iPod Nano = TuneStage

When we think of digital music, inevitably, we think of the insanely popular iPod. Even die hard PC enthusiasts, like our own Bill, buy an iPod to listen to their tunes...excuse me, they're iTunes. For the last several months, we've all been speculating as to what features will be in the next generation iPod. The cutting edge technology we're all drooling for fits into two categories: a larger screen, and wireless support (better battery life would be nice as well, but not quite as cutting edge).

While you can't enlarge the screen, without some real serious modding, the good news is that if you own an iPod Nano, you can make it wireless. Belkin just introduced their new TuneStage accessory. This promises to not only make your iPod Nano wireless, but of wireless of the Bluetooth variety. This means that it will work with the many Bluetooth wireless headphones already on the market. The $179 kit includes a transmitter for the iPod, and a receiver for the home stereo.

To me, the TuneStage is a lot more enticing than the HiFi because it will work with my existing stereo and Bluetooth headphones. While the eigth generation iPod will have it built in, it's nice to see that Bluetooth can be enabled today. The transmitter is powered by the Nano, and provides six hours of wireless freedom. Cut the cord, and be able to roam 33 feet away! Once you've been liberated of the wires of yesteryear, you won't want to go back.
