Today we have the privilege to put Plextor’s latest optical drive through its paces. There’s no denying that we like our hardware fast around here, so our first optical drive review on TechNudge Live will be on the 760A, which is touted to be the fastest DVD recorder out there with an 18x writing speed. It’s like Plextor overclocked this thing for us! Plextor has been known as the “king of quality” in optical drive circles. The 760A is available in both IDE and SATA configurations; we have the IDE version in the lab. The 760A is an upgrade to Plextor’s 716 drive that was notable for 16x burning. Let’s see if Plextor’s 760A drive can live up to its excellent pedigree and heritage.
