Step Your Avatar Up a Notch

When online, one of the ways to project your identity is with an avatar. That's a small image that helps folks associate your posts with you when using a forum, for example. More recently, people use them when doing instant messaging. Here at TechNudge, we use a picture of ourselves when posting comments through the Blogger interface.

Once in a while when on a forum, I'll see a really cool avatar. For example, one that is animated and looks like a cartoon. I assumed that you needed a degree in graphic design, and another in flash animation to make this possible. That may have been true at some point, but not anymore.

I heard of a new site called Meez. I selected from a variety of face, hair and clothing styles to generate the avatar. It was fun and painless. In under ten minutes it was all done, and there's even an animated GIF option. So if you want to jazz up that avatar, this is a simple way to get a cool result.
