Best Bloggers Stuck With Old Interface
The one feature that I miss most on Blogger compared to WordPress is the ability to tag items. This allows related posts to be grouped together for easier indexing down the road. For example, over on TechNudge Reviews, clicking on hard drives brings us to the three hard drive reviews we've done in the past year. Unfortunately, Blogger doesn't have this feature, and it makes older content much more difficult to get to. Sometimes to find stuff I've written, I've had to use Google to find my own article, so how are others going to find it?
Anyway, when I logged into Blogger last night, I was mildly excited to see that I was invited for Blogger Beta. The "killer app" is the tags that I so desire to organize things. I hit upgrade, and the message I received was that I couldn't be upgraded at this time. When I clicked to discover why, it was because my blogs simply have too many posts.
Isn't this the point? Shouldn't Blogger make the effort to take care of us power users ("power bloggers" if you will) first? I'm sure a few other previous Blogger users switched to WordPress, and now those of us that have stuck by them are the last to be upgraded? Have we used blogger too much? Now, this morning, I wanted to capture the upgrade sequence as a screenshot, and the invitation has been rescinded. That's right, I've been uninvited from the Blogger Beta upgrade plan.
While Google created a great tool with Blogger, they really need to nurture it better, and not let it float along like this. Their best users would really appreciate a little effort at this point.
