Parying in the Bathroom

A few years ago, when the toilet in the master bathroom crapped out, we dutifully replaced it with an evironmentally friendly, and government mandated, 1.6L flush model. After all, it was our duty as as good citizens of the earth. Besides, I didn't feel like driving up to Canada to buy a real one.

Well, time went buy and I noticed something odd. I find myself uttering a prayer under my breath when I hit the lever on the tank, hoping the thing will flush through. It dawned on me that here was a piece of technology --with the full force of the government behind it-- intimidating me into prayer. So I sat and wondered for a few moments about the situation.

It seems to me that if the tech sector and the government sector can promote religion when it comes to something as vital as our hygene (and when the mandated front-loader washing machines become law you'll be praying the door seal holds too...), these two secular encampments should be able to easily find a way to compromise on something as trivial as evolution.
