Never knew about the bow-tie thing! Wish i would have known before scheduling DirecTV for tomorrow :) Dish will be gone and DirecTV is installing HD service for me on Wednesday! I cant wait. Even with an antenna I still had times where the picture would pixelate and drop out completely, probably because I had a crappy inside antenna.
Hell of a deal too at DirecTV if anyone is interested - breakdown for ya
AAA membership here in PA saves you $10 a month for the next 24 months.
He gave me Nascar Hot Pass for $5 a month for 8 months, but then gave me a $5 credit on the bill for the next 12 months.
I also get a $13 a month discount through the directv.com/rebate promotion.
I got 2 free HD receivers and 1 free SD receiver because the AAA card let me have 2 $100 instant rebates. He said if I wait a couple months they should send out options to do a free upgrade to the hd receiver, or even for a free hd dvr upgrade if I want. NICE!
All in all my total bill with the choice extra and both HD packages should be $82 (full price) plus taxes and fee crap.
with the discounts I will pay $59 a month for the first 12 months, then $72 a month for the next 12 months. I think I got a hell of a deal since Dish charges me $70 a month for 2 receivers and 1 dvr service with no HD.
Figured I would share in case someone was interested in the HD stuff throug hthe sat packages rather than an antenna.

Antennas are nice, but they just wont get those nice ESPN, SPEED, DISCOVERY, HISTORY, etc channels ;)
Forgot, I also got a $300 voucher for DirecTV stuff - I think like PPV's and things. Also gave me free shipping and free installation - no cost at all upfront!
Mike
Wow, sounds like you got a really good deal. I compared the standard pricing of DirectTV and was less than impressed. I wonder what deals they have in NY? Will have to take a look...
Well it wont be installed today, the installer ran out of equipment - HUH?
So now I might have HD on Friday...crossing fingers.
Mike
Even at the $82 price per month, cable still cant touch it when you get the digital cable packages. I would still like to compare it to FIOS, but alas, Verizon is draggin its heels rolling out FIOS, so maybe in 2 years when my contract is up I can see about it.
I dread the waiting for these guys that don't show up and get the job done.
Verizon's Fios is well known for that.
