Repeat As Necessary
I've been a big fan of my laser printer over the last year. With faster output than my old inkjet, and text that looks much more professional, it's been easy to dump the inkjet, and step up to laser printing. I view inkjets as toys, and serious users will want a laser.
Last week, my laser printer, which falls into the "personal laser" category started printing less than ideally. Actually, it was mud in some spots, and way too light in others. For better or worse, we live in such a disposable society that I didn't lose too much sleep over this.
The reasons I chose a laser are still valid. I decided that probably the toner had run out, although the printer didn't pop up with that issue. At any rate, my plan is to just toss the current printer, and go purchase a new laser printer. This time I'm getting a Brother from NewEgg. Yup, this is another printer that at this price, I'll just toss, and upgrade the whole unit when it runs out of ink. For the low volume of printing I do, this is really the only way to go.
Am I happy that nothing can be fixed? What about the landfills that are piling up with printers? Not at all ideal, but if the printer companies are going to run their business as such that the cost of the cartridge is almost the same price as a whole new printer, than I'll "repeat as necessary."

PS: Hopefully next time color laser printers will have dropped a little more. They were actually pretty close this time.
