Dont you knock Spybot :p

go to ADVANCED MODE - tick the + at SETTINGS - got to AUTOMATION->SYSTEM START and click the radio button at NO AUTOMATION

You can also change the priority of the scan from Normal to something lower or higher.

There are a LOT of settings you can adjust, but the above should solve your problems.

I also like MALWAREBYTES anti-malware program - http://www.malwarebytes.org/ - it has a free version also.  I just wish the free versions would have the auto update and scan properties!  I always forget to run them :)

Good advice, but it has been nuked already.  Spybot S&D is not rated too highly these days compared to other stuff.

I know, its just hard to find something that IS good and will STAY good.  I think Malwarebytes is about the best one i have used so far, but i have not tested the other 8 billion that are available :)
