The Gazelle Runneth

With all the scams I hear about, I've never bought or sold anything on eBay. For the most part, it seems so not worth it to deal with all the hassle involved. Recently, I heard of an alternative, that you didn't need to be a "top reseller" to make a buck at.

Gazelle offers to buy electronic items. Hmmm. I checked my drawers, and there was a Palm T/X sitting there. Since I got an iPod Touch, the Palm has sat in the drawer, and would probably sit there forever. Why not try to get it into somebody's hands that could use it, and make a few bucks at the same time?

I went through the Gazelle website, and they ask about the condition of the item (good), and what accessories I had: software CD, AC adapter, and USB cable. I had the original stylus and cover, but they didn't seem to care. I was given an estimate of $75. Not bad, considering the Palm OS is dead, and they don't even sell this item on the Palm website. Hey, maybe someone thinks that WebOS will run on it at some point.

At any rate, I agreed, and I printed out a shipping label for UPS. I had to provide the box and shipping stuff, which was recycled Amazon cardboard. I tossed all the stuff in the box, and away it went.

So far, I have received confirmation that the item arrived. They are checking out the condition. If for some reason, it doesn't meet expectations, they may offer me a lower price. what I liked about this company is that if I'm not ok with it, they will ship it back to me at no cost. Now that sounds like a policy that I can live with to give it a try.

We'll keep you posted how it all turns out. In the meantime, they should do well in this economy as folks try to turn older electronics into cash. In my case, I'd like to put it towards some new gear. Hey, cleaning up, and cash at the same time!

and here I have been looking for a PDA to keep my dvd list on so my wife stops buying duplicates ;)

Hope it works out for you! I think $75 for that T/X is a damn good price considering it is a defunct item!

Mike

Anyone else have a PDA they want to part with cheaply? give a holler :)
